Little Evie

Little Evie is a “children’s song for all ages” written by Cootes Paradise member Wayne Krawchuk. The recording of the song and accompanying video became a COVID-19 pandemic project during 2020-2021.

The song based on a real little girl who lives in Chatham, Kent, U.K. She is the great-niece of Cootes Paradise’s bass player Ian Taylor and his wife Josephine, who co-wrote the lyrics. The project was inspired by Little Evie’s unwavering enthusiasm for all things Cootes Paradise. Upon the release of our first CD, the real Evie fell in love with the song “Lily’s Pad”. So much so, that she hid the CD from her nanna so that she could play it over and over, singing and dancing to it. She even drew a picture of the band, which was used for the cover art and is part of the video.

Recorded at Hamilton’s Pine Street Studio with Michael J. Birthelmer, the song then inspired the creation of this charming animated video, created by Wayne Krawchuk.
